Come Here Once

Just a Midwestern gal in New York City trying to convince people she is in to more than beer and cheese. Stick around, it should be a good time!

Manhattan, We Made It!

Manhattan, We Made It!

We’re here, we have made it; my very first blog post. I feel like I have been talking about this blog for months now in various settings. If you are brand new to me and my life, hello, my name is Miranda (from the Midwest). I was born in Michigan, raised in Wisconsin, and I am currently residing in New York, NY. I am a licensed therapist by day, but my true passion has always been in the fashion, beauty and décor industries. I absolutely love to write and pride myself on my eloquent vocabulary. My hope for this blog is to share with you all my experiences in moving from the Midwest to Manhattan and what that transition means for me both mentally and physically. I have the absolute best friend group who really are like my family. They have always encouraged me to go after my dreams and even though that meant leaving their sides to move to the Big Apple, their push is really what has begun this new life journey.

As a Midwesterner, it is not uncommon to be asked about food, alcohol, and football. It is as if that is the holy trifecta of the “flyover states” and without those we truly would just be a frozen tundra wasteland. But the Midwest is so much more than that. The Midwest is full of friendly people, comradery, amazing five star cuisine, local communities, small mom and pop shops, and towns where everyone truly knows your name. The Midwest is booming with entrepreneurial spirit, fantastic artists, and amazing festivals. The Midwest is unlike any other place in the world. I may be biased having spent my entire life in the Midwest, but if you visit or if you’ve ever been, you know what I mean. The Midwest is a feeling, a sense of warmth and happiness; it is so much more than just a place.

My hope for this blog, as you’ll find more of in my about me section, is to bring that sense of warmth and comfort along with me for the ride on this new adventure. Moving is terrifying, but moving half way across the country without knowing any one is more than most people would even consider. But for me, as much as the Midwest defines me, I knew my destiny was not to write my entire life story in Sconnie. For me, I wanted to bring that light and life to all parts of the world and show people just why the Midwest, in my opinion, is the greatest place to live.

I hope you stay for the ride; it’s gonna be a long and bumpy one I am sure. But there are SO MANY exciting and terrific things happening in the next few months. Expect to see posts on fashion, lifestyle, beauty, home décor, and my fur babies. Whether you are family or friends that just want to keep up with my life or you are new to the Midwest entirely, I hope to bring a little piece of the Midwest to your life every time you see that email pop up, so don’t forget to subscribe. And while you’re here, Excuse My Midwest, it’s pretty proud!
